What is the InformEd Process?

InformEd works with schools, districts, and states to provide a roadmap for the practical application of data-driven decision-making to education and to guide the continuous improvement process.

Reams of data, a sophisticated database, or the newest software are tools to data-driven continuous improvement, but they are not enough. The “how-to” skills are equally important. Educators must understand:

  • Where to begin
  • What data are most important to guide their work
  • What process to use to analyze their data
  • How to make data analysis and the resulting findings understandable to educators and educational stakeholders
  • How to apply what is learned to an ongoing improvement process.

The InformEd Process is designed to address these “how-to” issues. Unlike isolated events or tools focused on specific segments of data-driven decision-making, it takes a comprehensive and systemic approach to school or district change and teaches educators to thread the use of data into each critical component of the improvement process.

At each point in the InformEd Process, our technical assistance boils down often mystifying concepts into practical methodologies. We emphasize building the capacity of a school’s staff and stakeholders through hands-on training and consistent follow-through to ensure that positive outcomes are celebrated and sustained and periodic barriers to improvement are removed.

Engaging in the InformEd Process allows educators to go above and beyond external accountability measures required by current legislation by driving accountability from individuals inside the system. It is an empowering twist to the accountability equation that equals documented, systematic improvements.
